The tech tree is the backbone of long-term progression. Its branching nodes unlock systems, recipes, and ship classes; each node needs research and sometimes materials to open.

Because branches diverge, plan a path toward a goal - a mining empire, a combat doctrine, a salvage operation - rather than spreading thin.
